"The Canary"
Amelia purchased a prototype of the Kinner airplane naming it "The Canary". She had several accidents during with it but considering the unreliability of planes in the early days of aviation, some of her accidents could be attributed to unreliable engines and slowness of the planes.
Lockheed Vega
At the age of 34, on the morning of 20 May 1932 Earhart set off from
Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. She
intended to fly to Paris in her single engine Lockheed Vega 5b to
emulate Charles Lindbergh's solo flight. After a flight lasting 14 hours, 56 minutes during
which she contended with strong northerly winds, icy conditions and
mechanical problems, Earhart landed in a pasture at Culmore, north of
Derry, Northern Ireland.
The Lockheed Electra was the first all-metal and twin-engine plane designed by Hall Hibbard. This was the plane Amelia attempted to use to fly across the Atlantic around the world in July 1937.
